You either close the latch or rotate the door knob. Is that the same way you close your refrigerator door? Does it have a latch? No, right? Then how does it close?<br>A fridge has a magnet on its side. Almost 90% of magnets come from China, but were not discovered there. One day, he took his sheep over the mountains of \u2018Magnesia\u2019. Suddenly, his foot and stick got fixed to the ground. He tried hard to lift both but he could not. Just then he realized that the nails and buckle of his sandals and the iron tip of his stick were fixed to a big stone. It had a magical power of attracting things that were made of iron. This was how a natural magnet was discovered. Now, can you relate to its name with the mountains and the stone? This is how people found magnet and named it so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Magnets come in different shapes. Bar magnets, cylindrical magnets, horseshoe magnets, ring magnets, and ball-ended magnets are a few examples. Magnets were first discovered in Greece.<br>However, Chinese scientists had invented the magnetic compass. The compass needle points in the North direction.
